Meals on Wheels of Arlington Virginia is an all-volunteer program. We will always make every effort to deliver meals to our clients in the normal time frame, 11-1. However, during inclement weather there may be times when our drivers simply cannot navigate roads necessary to reach our clients. We must be mindful of the safety of our volunteers when we consider whether to deliver in bad weather or when footing on sidewalks and stairways is hazardous.
We will make every effort to have a message here on our website’s front page, and on our phone, 703-522-0811, by 7a.m.
We, members of the board of managers of Meals on Wheels of Arlington, will make our considered decision based on Arlington county policy and the local weather forecast.
In the case of bad weather lasting several days, Meals on Wheels of Arlington Virginia will try to assemble drivers and vehicles to make an emergency delivery, but we cannot guarantee whether or when this will occur.
Clients are encouraged to keep a supply of staples such as canned or packaged soups, pasta, TV dinners, crackers, fruits and other non-perishables on hand. Some food that does not require heating should also be kept on hand in case of an extended power outage.
