Eligibility
Meals on Wheels clients vary in age, physical condition and ability to pay for the service. A person’s ability to pay the full cost of MOW service has no bearing on eligibility.
Clients should:
- Reside in Arlington County, VA
- Be homebound or incapable of procuring or preparing meals for themselves
- Not have substantial assistance present in the home on a regular basis
- Not reside in a facility that offers congregate food service
To request MOW service, call our answering service at 703-522-0811 and leave name, address, phone number and date of birth. We will return the call to establish eligibility and to answer any questions.
Costs
We expect each client to pay an amount toward the cost of service, if possible, depending on the ability to pay. The amount varies from full cost to a nominal amount.
For clients with adequate income, the cost is what MOW pays for the food: $50/week or $212/month. For other clients, an amount is established, usually with the assistance of a social worker, that the client can afford. The balance is subsidized by State and/or MOW funds
